Dr. Wah Wah Maung, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, Myanmar SEOM Lead, attended the ASEAN Senior Economic Officials' Meeting (SEOM) Retreat which was held virtually on 11 January 2022.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Rath Saravuth, Director General of International Trade, ASEAN SEOM Leader of Cambodia and was attended by the SEOM leads and their representatives from ASEAN Member States. Deputy Secretary General for ASEAN Economic Community of the ASEAN Secretariat also attended the Meeting.
The Senior Economic Officials exchanged views on the follow-up actions from decisions made at the High-level Meetings which were held in 2021, Priority Economic Deliverables that will be prioritized under Cambodia’s  ASEAN Chairmanship in 2022, possible 2022 Annual Priorities that submitted by sectoral bodies under ASEAN Economic Community , SEOM Work Programme for 2022, the way forward on TIMOR-LESTE’S application for ASEAN membership, Notional Calendar for ASEAN meetings in 2022,  preparations for the ASEAN – Canada FTA Negotiations and singing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the establishment of the ASEAN-Korea Industrial Innovation Centre (AKIIC).
    At the Meeting, Dr. Wah Wah Maung congratulated Cambodia’s ASEAN Chairmanship for 2022. She also informed to the meeting that the two leaders of Myanmar and Cambodia discussed the regional cooperation during the State Visit of Cambodia’s Prime Minister to Myanmar. And, she fully supported the Priority Economic Deliverables (PEDs) of Cambodia’s Chairmanship in 2022 and committed to cooperate with other ASEAN Member States for the implementation of PEDs in a timely manner. She highlighted for ensuring ASEAN Centrality and Principles of ASEAN Charter. She also emphasized the active cooperation of Myanmar in ASEAN region in the last 24 years and the importance of understanding Myanmar and rule-based manner of ASEAN.
    The meeting was also attended by Director General and officials of Foreign Economic Relations Department, officials from Department of Trade and Customs Department.
