The 41st SEOM-CER Consultation, the 42nd SEOM-MOFCOM Consultation, the 37th SEOM-ROK Consultation and the SEOM-METI 2/27 Consultation were held in Siem Reap, Cambodia on 5 August 2022. Dr. Wah Wah Maung, Permanent Secretary for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, attended the Meetings.
The Meetings were attended by the Senior Economic Officials from ASEAN, Australia, China, Japan, Korea, New Zealand and the officials from ASEAN Secretariat. The Meetings were co-chaired by Mr. Rath Saravuth, Director-General of International Trade, Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia and Senior Economic Officials from the respective dialogue partners.
Firstly, the 41st SEOM-CER Consultation commenced at 8:30 a.m. and the Senior Economic Officials discussed on the progress of AANZFTA Upgrade Negotiations, AANZFTA Implementation Support Programme, Chile’s accession to the AANZFTA and preparation for the upcoming 27th AEM-CER Consultation.
Consequently, the 42nd SEOM-MOFCOM Consultation was held. During the Meeting, the Senior Economic Officials discussed the matters relating to the implementation of the ACFTA, finalization of the Joint Feasibility Study to Further Enhance the ACFTA, the Work Programme on Further Deepening ASEAN-China Trade and Economic Cooperation, and possible economic deliverables for the 21st AEM-MOFCOM Consultation which will be held in September 2022.
In the afternoon, the 37th SEOM-ROK Consultation was held. In the Meeting, the Senior Economic Officials discussed on the matters of implementation of the ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Area, ASEAN-Korea economic cooperation, signing of the MOU on the establishment of ASEAN-Korea Industrial Innovation Center, and possible economic deliverables for the 19th AEM-ROK Consultation which will be held in September 2022.
At the SEOM-METI 2/27 Consultation, the Meeting discussed the progress of ASEAN-Japan economic cooperation activities, including Review of the ASEAN-Japan Economic Resilience Action Plan and the ASEAN-Japan 10-year Strategic Economic Partnership Cooperation Roadmap and the Work Plan to create “Future Design and Action Plan of an Innovative and Sustainable ASEAN-Japan Economic Partnership” in 2023.
The Senior Officials from Foreign Economic Relations Department also participated in the Meetings.
