1. At the invitation of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), Dr Kan Zaw, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and party attended the Second High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development from 11 to 13 July in Beijing.
2. The Conference was also attended by Mr Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs; Mr Luo Zhaohui, the Chairman of CIDCA; and high-level representatives from countries in Asia, America, Latin America regions international organizations and private sector. U Tin Maung Swe, Myanmar Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, and the two representatives from Myanmar Embassy also joined the Conference.
3. In the evening of 11 July, the Union minister attended a welcome banquet hosted by CIDCA for the high-level representatives from respective countries and organizations who would be attending the Conference.
4. On the morning of 12 July, the first day of the forum, the Union Minister attended the opening ceremony and participated in the Interactive Discussion: Joint Actions to Promote the Sustainable Development. Ministers from Egypt, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Tanzania, Papua New Guinea, Vice President of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the expert for poverty alleviation and Professor/Director from Columbia University, USA also participated in the Interactive Discussion.
5. In the evening of 12 July, 14 high-level representatives of the Second High-Level Conference of the Forum including the Union Minister Dr Kan Zaw paid a courtesy call to the Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Vice Premier of the State Council, and Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group H.E. Mr. Ding Xuexiang. During the courtesy call, they exchanged views on the China’s leading role in global development cooperation and expressed their readiness to work together to deepen Global Development Initiatives (GDI) cooperation.
6. The Second High-Level Conference of Forum on Global Action for Shared Development, which took place on July 12 and 13, was organized into five sub-forums: Parallel Forum 1 (Promoting Modernization of the Global South: New Pathways, New Visions), Parallel Forum 2 (Dialogue on Innovative Approaches to Accelerating Sustainable Development: Country, Regional and Global Actions for a Better Future), Parallel Forum 3 (Energy Transition and Sustainable Development), Parallel Forum 4 (Multi-Sector Engagement in International Development Cooperation: Enabling Global Growth Through Sustainable Partnership), and Parallel Forum 5 (Uniting Generations: Shared Global Youth Responsibilities in the Digital Era). The representatives from participating countries, United Nations agencies and international organizations engaged in collaborative discussions and dialogues in accordance with the specific topics and areas.
7. On the morning of 13 July, the Union Minister and party attended the closing ceremony of the Second High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development.
8. On the afternoon of 13 July, H.E Mr Luo Zhaohui, the Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), received the Union Minister and party. During the meeting, they discussed matters related to bilateral cooperation for development and investment between China and Myanmar. Moreover, Myanmar delegation and CIDCA Vice Chairman Mr. Yang Weiqun discussed the implementation process and activities of bilateral development cooperation.
9. Union Minister Dr. Kan Zaw of MIFER and party arrived back in Yangon by China Eastern Airlines in this evening. Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy to Myanmar Mr Ouyang Daobing and officials from the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations welcomed back the Union minister and party at the Yangon International Airport.
10. U Thant Sin Lwin, Director General of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA), who was accompanied as a member of the Union Minister, also arrived back in Yangon.
