The second meeting of the Working Committee to address the Impact of COVID-19 on the country’s economy was held at the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations in Nay Pyi Taw this morning. The meeting was chaired by U Thaung Tun, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations. Members of the working committee, U Soe Win, U Thein Swe, Dr. Than Myint and U Kyaw Kyaw Maung, Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar took part in the meeting.
U Ohn Maung, Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism and Deputy Ministers U Set Aung, U Bharat Singh, U Tin Latt and U Zaw Min Win, Chairman of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) also attended the meeting as guests.
The Working Committee discussed measures required to address the negative impacts of COVID-19 on the country’s economy, including the setting up of COVID-19 FUND from which loans could be dispersed to affected CMP enterprises and SMEs at a minimal interest rate.
