Diplomatic Relations between Myanmar and Britain

1. Myanmar and Britain established the diplomatic relations in 7thJuly, 1947.

 2. UK is one of the donor countries for Three Millennium Development Goals (3MDGs), Three Diseases Fund (3DF), Livelihood and Food Security Fund (LIFT) Fund, Multi Donors Education Fund (MDEF) that has supported through the UN organizations, International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Myanmar.

Supporting areas

 3. During the year from 2011 to 2015, Department for International Development – (UK –DFID) provided the development assistances in three sectors such as good governance and public financial management, promoting responsible investment, improving transparency and strengthening the work of parliament in Myanmar.

    4. Furthermore, UK-Aid supported for Myanmar population census, economic development, food, shelter and clean water in Kachin state in 2014.

    5. The DaNa Facility is implementing the inclusive economic growth through responsible and sustainable private sector development in Myanmar with the funding of £ 25 million from UK Department for International Development (DFID) during 2015 to 2020 period.
