1. Myanmar and Italy established the diplomatic relations in 24th November, 1950.

Priority areas for Myanmar

2.   Italy provides technical assistances and loans to Myanmar's rural development, access to electricity, urban heritage preservation, capacity building program in cooperation with development partners, natural resource conservation.

Projects with Italian soft loan 

3.  Italy contributed soft loan euro 20 million to the project “National Community Driven Development Program-NCDDP” (2015-2018) which was implemented by the Department of Rural Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation with the support of the World Bank.

4. With the support of Italian soft loan euro 30 million, Department of Rural Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation signed the Financing Agreement for National Electrification Project: Off-Grid Component NEP-IT on 23rd May 2019 and the project activities has been implemented during the period from 2019 to 2024.
