Diplomatic Relations between Myanmar and Switzerland Confederation

1. Myanmar and Swiss Confederation established the diplomatic relations on 1957. Swiss Confederation has supported development assistances to Myanmar through the channel of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), SWISS AID, Swisscontact.

Strategy for Switzerland-Myanmar Development Cooperation 

 2. Since 2012, Switzerland provided development assistances (CHF 179 m) according to the strategy of development cooperation for Myanmar (2013-2017) with the extension to 2018.

 3. The main activities of strategy includes access for employment and skill development, agriculture and food security, health, social services and local governance, peace, democracy and  the enhancement for protection focusing with the areas in south-east part of Myanmar.

Memorandum of Understanding on Dialogue on Economic, Investment, Labor and Trade Matters 

4.  Memorandum of Understanding on Dialogue on Economic, Investment, Labor and Trade Matters between the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Swiss Confederation was signed by Deputy Minister for former Ministry of National Planning and Economic Development and State Secretary of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research of the Swiss Confederation on 26th January 2013.

5. Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) provided to “Township Democratic Local Governance Project (TDLG)” project with the collaboration of general administration department through UNDP at (10) townships in Mon States.

6.  Switzerland has supported to Myanmar’s development with the financial contribution to Multi-Donor Trust Fund
