Cambodia and Myanmar reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen, expand economic, trade and investment cooperation in bilateral framework during a recent meeting between Minister of Commerce Pan Sorasak and Myanmar’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Aung Naing Oo.

The two ministers met together against the backdrop of the ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Meeting in Bali, Indonesia on May 18.

Ministers Sorasak and Naing Oo made the commitment to strengthen, expand economic, trade and investment cooperation in both the bilateral and ASEAN frameworks.

Minister Sorasak warmly welcomed and thanked Minister Naing Oo for initiating the talks and supporting Cambodia as chair of the 2022 ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Meeting. He said the two sides exchanged views on economic and trade progress in both the regional and bilateral frameworks, aiming to increase trade volume and promote economic recovery.

Minister Naing Oo praised Cambodia for the success in the recent negotiations for the establishment of a bilateral free trade agreement between Cambodia, China and Cambodia-Korea.
