Dr. Wah Wah Maung, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, Myanmar SEOM Lead, joined the First Meeting of the ASEAN Senior Economic Officials for the Fifty Third ASEAN Economic Ministers Meeting (SEOM 1/53) which was held virtually from 21 to 24 February 2022.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Rath Saravuth, Director General of International Trade, ASEAN SEOM Leader of Cambodia and was attended by the SEOM leads and their representatives from ASEAN Member States, the officials from the ASEAN Secretariat.
At the meeting, senior economic officials exchanged views on the follow-up actions arising from the SEOM Retreat Meeting which was held virtually in January 2022, the Priority Economic Deliverables (PEDs) under Cambodia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2022, AEC Annual Priorities (APs) under SEOM Purview which will be carried out in 2022, the implementation status of ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework, the progress of discussion on provisions of Entry Into Force (EIF) for future ASEAN Economic Agreements by the relevant Task Force, the report of Economic Officers , the preparatory works for launching the negotiations of the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement upgrade, the review of the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement, upgrade of the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area, the work for the upgrading of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement, preparations for the ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement negotiations and preparations for the 28th AEM Retreat.
    The officials from Foreign Economic Relations Department also attended the meeting.
