Myanmar delegation led by H.E. Dr. Wah Wah Maung, Eminent Person (EP) of Myanmar and Deputy Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations attended the 12th Meeting of the High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Community’s Post-2025 Vision (HLTF-ACV), which was held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 4-5 December 2023. Deputy Director-General U Zaw Zaw Soe and official from the ASEAN Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also joined the meeting.
The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Dian Triansyah Djani, Eminent Person (EP) of Indonesia and Special Advisor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs on Priority Programmes, as the ASEAN Chair and Mr. Dato Zainuddin Yahya, Eminent Person (EP) of Malaysia and Former Malaysian Ambassador, as the permanent shepherd Member State. The meeting was attended by approximately 70 representatives of Eminent Persons, High-Level Representatives and the officials from ASEAN Member States and Timor-Leste as an observer, as well as Secretary-General of ASEAN and officials from the ASEAN Secretariat.
During the meeting, an interface session was held with the HLTF-EI Chair, SOCA Chair, and ACCC Chair in order to ensure smooth coordination in crafting the Strategic Action Plans of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, in which the participants were discussed about to organize broadly consultations with pertinent ASEAN bodies and organizations in formulating the Strategic Action Plans, and its template, timeline, process and content.
The Deputy Minister urged that narrowing the development gap in ASEAN should be a priority in order to meaningfully implement ASEAN Community Vision 2045 since the gap is still in ASEAN. She encouraged to enhance mutual cooperation and coordination that new methodologies to reflect relevant action lines, since the development gap not only on an economic scale but also on sharing knowledge, institutional, and digital development still have among ASEAN peoples and ASEAN member states. She reaffirmed that Myanmar as a responsible member state of ASEAN and keep cooperation in crafting strategic action plan with ASEAN Countries.
The 2045 ASEAN Community Vision, crafted under the overarching theme of "A Resilient, Innovative, Dynamic, and People-Centered ASEAN," finalized at the 11th meeting of the HLTF-ACV. Subsequently, it is formally endorsed at the 43rd ASEAN Summit. Presently, to ensure the Strategic Plans of Year 2025 to 2045 will be formulated among the ASEAN Political and Security Community (APSC), the Economic Community (AEC) and the Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC), and the ASEAN Connectivity Coordinating Committee (ACCC) respectively.
