The opening ceremony of capacity building training for new Deputy Staff Officers and new Assistant Deputy Staff Officers of the Foreign Economic Relations Department under the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations was held at Office No. (1), Nay Pyi Taw in the evening of 1st April 2024.
Union Minister for the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, Deputy Minister, Director Generals, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Deputy Director Generals, other officials, trainers and trainees attended the opening ceremony.
At the event, Dr. Kan Zaw, the Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, delivered a speech. In his speech, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations (MIFER) is composed of the Union Minister's Office and two departments (FERD and DICA). They play a key role in the development of the country. New staffs need to know the motto of the ministry.
FERD is a department with bilateral economic cooperation with development partners, United Nations agencies, and International and Regional Organizations. As the department is a coordinating department between foreign countries and Ministries, the staffs of FERD need to have departmental knowledge and language skills to ensure efficient provision of services. Capacity building training for new staffs was held 3 times. The training is aimed at improving the departmental knowledge of the new staffs and effectively carrying out their duties in the workplace. The trainees should use the knowledge from the training in a beneficial way to continue to increase their knowledge in the workplace. The trainees need to become royalty civil service personnel; to serve the duties of the nation and ministry systematically, efficiently, and honestly without errors as good civil servants.
In the training, the Civil Services Personnel Law, Civil Service Personnel Rules, the Code of Conduct, the structure of FERD, bilateral cooperation, cooperation with UN agencies, sub-regional cooperation with international organizations, international legal affairs, scholarship selection and approved affairs, development, management and cooperation, monitoring and evaluation, financial rules, ASEAN plus one free trade areas, dialogue partners economic cooperation with ASEAN, (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam-CLMV) economic cooperation, the activities of the Union Minister Office and Directorate of Investment and Company Administration will be taught by relevant subject experts. The training course will take place from 1st to 12th April, 2024.
A total of 70 people, including trainees from the Foreign Economic Relations Department and senior officials from the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, attended.
