Under the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) programme, Asian Development Bank (ADB) organized the 3rd Senior Official Meeting (SOM) via video conferencing at 8:30 AM in Nay Pyi Taw on 11 September 2020.
The meeting was chaired by H.E. Mr. Ros Seilava, Secretary of State, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Cambodia, co-chaired by Mr. Liu Weihua, Deputy Director General, Department of International Economic and Financial Cooperation, Ministry of Finance (PRC), and moderated by Mr. Alfredo Perdiguero, Regional Director, ADB.
In the Meeting, the senior officials from member countries discussed and contributed comments on the 4th Draft of GMS Strategy 2030, the GMS Responses to the COVID-19 Pandemic Plan, the progress of Pilot Study on the Development of the North-South Economic Corridor (NSEC-5) under GMS programme, activities on Labor Mobility and Safe Migration, Third Progress Report on the Regional Investment Framework (RIF) 2022. Then, the senior officials also exchanged their views on Status of Preparations for Development Partners Meeting (DPM), 11th Economic Corridor Forum (ECF 11), 24th Ministerial Conference (24 MC) and 7th Leaders’ Summit presented by the host countries; Cambodia, China and Thailand.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from six GMS member countries (Cambodia, PR China, Laos PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam) and ADB staff, in total 73 participants. Myanmar delegates from ministries concerned led by the Director General U Than Aung Kyaw, GMS National Coordinator, Foreign Economic Relations Department, Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations participated from their offices via video conference respectively.
