Nay Pyi Taw, January 22

Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, U Thaung Tun received Mr. Gevorg Sargsyan, Country Director and Head of World Bank  Office in Myanmar at the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations office in Nay Pyi Taw this morning.

They discussed matters relating to the implementation of health and education projects with the assistance of the World Bank. They also reviewed the status of project proposals on energy efficiency improvement and financing for peaceful and prosperous communities project.

Myanmar’s economy continues to show resilience despite the global slowdown.  The economy grew by at 6.3 percent in 2018/2019, supported by better performance in the manufacturing and services sectors.

Deputy Minister, U Bharat Singh and senior officials also attended the meeting.
