Exchange of agreement regarding the provision of Human Resource Development Scholarship by the Government of Japan to the Government of Myanmar was signed by U Bharat Singh, Deputy Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and Mr. MARUYAMA Ichiro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

The assistance of 627 million Japanese Yen is earmarked for human resource development in the education sector and will provide scholarships for post-graduate studies, 44 Master degree students and 4 Ph.D students, in the 2020-2021 academic year.

Human Resource Development Scholarship programme under Japanese Grant Aid (JDS) has been in operation in Myanmar since 2001. A total of 545 Fellows have benefited from the programme.
