The Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and National Security Advisor of the Union Government U Thaung Tun  accompanied by Deputy Minister for Home  Affairs  Maj-Gen  Aung  Thu and Myanmar Ambassador to Russian Federation H.E. U Ko Ko Shein participated in the  X  International  Meeting  of  High-Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters in Ufa, Russia, from 18 to 20 June.

Prior to the International Meeting, the Union Minister met with H.E. Mr. Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation at Parkovy Complex Kaminny Hall on 17 June. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on bilateral relations and cooperation as well as cooperation at the United Nations and other international fora.

At the International Meeting, the high-ranking officials discussed matters relating to ways and means to meet the challenges of growing hybrid threats, enhancing international cooperation to combat the spread of terrorist ideology and countering changing strategies of international terrorist organizations. The meeting also discussed strengthening international cooperation in the field of emergency humanitarian response and to maintain strategic stability, establishing the system of international information security as a guarantor of strategic stability.

The Union Minister addressed the plenary session under the agenda item: Ensuring national security and sustainable socio-economic development of states in the face of growing hybrid threats.

The Union Minister also attended the working lunch hosted by Mr. Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation for ASEAN representatives on 18 June.
The Union Minister H.E. U Thaung Tun met with H.E. Mr. Maxim Oreshkin, Minister of economic development of Russian Federation in Moscow on 19 June. They openly exchanged views on promotion of bilateral economic cooperation. Presents also were H.E. Mr. Tumur Maximov, Vice-Minister and officials concerned from the Russian Ministry and H.E. U Ko Ko Shein, Myanmar Ambassador to the Russian Federation.

The Union Minister also attended the Myanmar-Russia Business Seminar organized by the Russian Ministry of economic development and he widely discussed matters on bilateral economic and investment opportunities as well as cooperation of small and medium enterprises between Myanmar and Russia. The officials concerned from Russian Ministry and entrepreneurs from various sectors were present at the seminar and the Union Minister replied the questions raised by them.
