The Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, U Thaung Tun received Australia Ambassador to Myanmar Ms. Andrea Faulkner and Ms. Julie Shuttleworth, Deputy CEO of Australia’s Fortescue Metals Group on this morning at the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations in Nay Pyi Taw via Video Conference.

Matters relating to develop a renewable energy power plant and potential investment as well as to create many job opportunities were discussed.

Australia based Fortescue Metals Group is the fourth largest iron ore producer in the world and is recognized for the development of world class infrastructure and mining assets. They are keen to explore investment opportunities in Myanmar.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister U Bharat Singh and Mr. Jeff Turner, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner from Australia Embassy.
