U Aung Htoo, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Commerce and delegates attended the 26th ASEAN Economic Ministers Retreat Meeting which was held in Danang, Viet Nam on 9-11 March 2020.
At the meeting, the Ministers endorsed Viet Nam’s
priority economic deliverables for its Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2020, discussed
on the priorities of the sectoral bodies under AEM’s purview for 2020, gave
guidance for signing of RCEP agreement in 2020 and discussed on the future
activities of ASEAN external economic relations as well as the priorities and
initiatives in 2020 raised by ASEAN Business Advisory Council.
In addition, the Ministers agreed to
take a collective course of action to mitigate the economic impact of COVID-19
on the ASEAN region, particularly supply chains, trade, financial market and
tourism.
