Bilateral Project Screening Meeting on Small Development Projects (SDP) to be implemented by Indian Grants is held at Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, in Nay Pyi Taw this morning. The meeting is led by Deputy Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations (MIFER), Dr. Wah Wah Maung on Myanmar side and Deputy Chief of the Mission of India Embassy in Yangon, Mr. Ashish Sharma on India side.
At the meeting, they cordially discussed the matters on bilateral economic cooperation on Indian Grant Aid and Technical Assistance Projects, detailed discussion on project proposals and its status of screening process, mutual consultation and suggestion, requirement of additional information regarding the proposed projects. The projects from Myanmar side are proposed by nine ministries: Ministry of Transport and Communication, Ministry of Border Affairs, Ministry of Information, Ministry of Electric Power, Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Industry and Ministry of Science and Technology to be implemented under Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Indian Grant Assistance for Implementation of Small Development Projects signed between Myanmar and India. Senior Officials from MIFER also attended the meeting.
MIFER is a focal point for cooperation and negotiation in the matters of implementing the Grant Aid and Technical Assistance Projects between the relevant ministries/ organizations and Development Partners.
Small Development Project is the quick-win grant project provided by Indian Government with the maximum amount of 2 million USD for implementing each socio- economic development project especially in infrastructure, health, education and community development sectors.
